Indie Book Reviews Are Coming!

In case you missed it, I decided to start doing indie book reviews!

I now have a bunch of ebooks in my Kindle library and three beautiful paperbacks on my shelf. I’m aiming to write one review per month.

Why, you ask? Am I some kind of book expert??

No, not really.

I was thinking one day about how lovely it is that my ghost blogging is going well enough that I can afford to actually support amazing authors, like Julia Quinn. (Normally, I am a big fan of the local library, but I am buying every Bridgerton book.)

Then I thought, “Hey! You know who could really use some support? Indie authors!”

So I twittered a tweet:

And some lovely authors just yeeted their books right at me. (I am very hip.)

Why I am an excellent book reviewer:

I bet you didn’t know you could go to college and major in reading. Well, I did. So there.

  • I have a degree in English Language and Literature.
  • I worked at a library.
  • I worked at a bookstore.
  • I like to read!

Boom.

What you need to know about submitting your book for review:

DON’T.

To simplify things (and put some $$$ in pockets) I am not accepting ARCs. I’m just buying books that sound interesting to me.

I will probably be doing another shopping spree via Twitter when I start to run low on books so be sure to follow me at @seeheatherwrite.

I’ll announce it here, on Twitter, and on my Facebook page in advance.

Ratings on other websites:

I will post my review on Goodreads and Amazon. I have to choose a star rating there, and I am one of those horrible reviewers that thinks your book has to be something really spectacular to get 5 stars. If you didn’t rock my fucking world, you’re not getting a 5.

On the other hand, I don’t review DNFs and I’ve never given a 1 star review. If you keep my attention through the entire book, you’re getting at least 2 stars.

Ratings on my website:

This will consist of 3 tiers:

  • a good book
  • an okay book
  • a bad book

I like to keep it simple.

My first read is Exile by B.K. Greenwood. Chosen by my son because where I am indecisive, my 3-year-old is not.

Stay tuned!

(Also, yes, I’m a few days behind on Lady of Mars, but you know what that means…. Double chapter posting to ease my guilt! So stay tuned for that, too.)
