Novellas and Orgasms

Lady of Mars

I’ve decided to take a break on the Lady of Mars videos for now. It’s a lot of time and effort for a couple of views, and while I was doing it for fun (and may do so again) my freelancing is keeping me too busy for it to feel like anything other than a chore.

I am still posting chapters!

Right here, every Monday, except the last two weeks. But I uploaded THREE new chapters today, so please forgive me!

Also, don’t forget, you can buy the entire story immediately for $4.99 here.

Anyway, now that I’m back on track I have a few announcements:

Kindle Vella

As I mentioned on Facebook and Twitter, I am super excited about the new program from Amazon, Kindle Vella.

I started my writing journey on fanfiction.net, and when I needed to fall back in love with writing a few years ago, I turned to fictionpress.com. From what I’ve heard, it seems very similar to these platforms, where I upload chapters on a regular schedule and can add author notes, receive some reader feedback, and just post as I write.

This means, of course, that the stories may not be as perfect and polished as my Kindle ebooks, but I hope they’re still entertaining.

If I have even one fan of a book, I promise to finish it!

So far, I’ve uploaded three stories, all with at least four chapters to get you started. I’m best known for romance and erotica, but I write EVERYTHING, all under the pen name Heather Lin (because I’m not trying to keep track of twenty pen names).

Kindle Vella launches for readers in a few months, and want to give you a sneak peek of the Kindle Vella stories I’m working on:

Meadowsweet

A General Fiction novella, in the vein of Nicholas Sparks. General Fiction isn’t a genre option in the Kindle Vella system, so I had to list it as Mystery/Romance, which I guess is pretty close.

Chain-smoking introvert Jean is devastated when her brother is killed while serving in Afghanistan. She’s even more devastated when her family refuses to believe it. She escapes to Meadowsweet Beach to grieve alone.

She doesn’t care about the hurricane that’s coming, and she doesn’t mind sharing the space with the troubled stranger that shows up on her doorstep. The only thing that really could bother Jean is if she’s wrong, and her brother is still alive.

The Eternal Contest

A Young Adult Fantasy novel, written by several different versions of me. I wrote some of it when I was 13, some when I was 20, and some a year ago. I’m excited about where it’s going (I mostly know where it’s going), and I hope you’ll join me on the journey!

Good vs. Evil is a game between the gods. The Light God created morning, birth, and lawful creatures called the Janahai. The Dark God created night, death, and the terrible Vampra. Both want to rule the world.

In a last effort to settle their dispute, these gods call on two more races: Damanai and Humans. Fifteen-year-old Dina is Lashnai: lost. The Damanai are gaining the upper hand, and she could save everyone.

But she doesn’t want to.

Secrets of St. Clare

A racy Horror story that, once again, didn’t quite have the right genre to choose from. So I went with Paranormal/Erotica, though it’s more paranormal and less erotic. I wrote 5,000 words of this, forgot about it, found it on my hard drive, loved it, and had no idea where it was going. But now I have a new direction and I’m excited to share it with you!

Every Christmas Day, the island community of St. Clare, Massachusetts sacrifices a seventeen-year-old girl to the monster in the church at the top of the hill. This year, it’s Faye’s turn to go. No one knows that she plans to be the first sacrifice in 400 years to fight back–and not against the monster on the hill, but against the monsters who sent her there to die.

Which one are you excited about? Are you looking forward to reading Kindle Vella? Share your thoughts below!

The Big Book of Orgasms: Volume 2

I’m also very excited to announce that a short story of mine, “The Thin Veil,” will be included in The Big Book of Orgasms: Volume 2 edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel.

Ten years ago, in 2011, I was honored to have a story included in her anthology, Gotta Have It: 69 Stories of Sudden Sex.

It’s been years since I’ve pursued publication of a short story, and being a part of this book is an amazing way to get back into the game.

That’s all for now! Keep calm and read on. 🙂
